Hello Mycopreneurs,

Happy Halloween / Dia de Muertos / Samhain

Today’s Mycopreneur Incubator will be held at the usual time, and the invite is at the bottom of this email.

To kick off today’s newsletter, check out this incredible ‘Calavera’ skull made out of mycelium by Mexican mushroom researcher, entrepreneur, and former Mycopreneur Podcast guest Efren Robledo Leal.

This season traditionally represents the time of year when the veil between worlds is at it’s thinnest, and folklore maintains that spirits on ‘the other side’ are more readily available to connect with during this season. Coincidentally (perhaps?), the Psilocybe semilanceata, known colloquially as ‘Liberty Caps’, first start to appear across the United Kingdom in September and typically grow through November before the first frost of the season. This places them squarely within the window of ‘Samhain’, the ancient Celtic tradition that is the inspiration for Halloween.

Check out the Liberty Cap entry on iNaturalist below and get to know this magnificent and mysterious species a bit more for the sake of being well-rounded and interesting at dinner parties.

ALPS Psychedelic Research Conference

I just wrapped up a stand up comedy keynote at ALPS Psychedelic Research conference in Geneva, Switzerland last weekend. I’ve got an article about the conference slated for publication soon, so I won’t go into too much detail about it here.

All this to say things have been moving, and I’m definitely interested in commissioning people to contribute to this newsletter in the coming weeks ($$) so it’s not a me me me show. There’s so much happening in the world of mushroom entrepreneurship, and if you have a compelling and niche contribution that sits within your zone of genius and would benefit a growing global audience of mushroom researchers, entrepreneurs, and the occasional nut job, please please please tap in with me below.

Global Psychedelic Week

This coming Monday, November 3rd, we kick off the inaugural Global Psychedelic Week. In partnership with the magnificent Milica Radovic Mandic of Psilocybin San Francisco and a team of rockstars helping launch this initiative, we’ve managed to pull together over 100 in-person events in 20 countries around the world and well as draw an estimated 5,000 + people to this weeklong celebration of psychedelic culture and science. Snag a last minute ticket if you haven’t done so already and join us ( :

Shroomski Magazine Halloween Edition

Shroomski Magazine has been killing it if you didn’t notice already. They’re a print magazine based in Colorado and shipping worldwide with a focus on mushroom culture and science. I’m fortunate to have contributed the closing article for the second straight issue of the magazine.

The title of the article is “The Underground Sets The Standards”, and surprise, it draws from and expands upon a lot of the talking points we’ve discussed in recent Mycopreneur Incubators with the group. There’s also a few familiar faces / brands that made it into the article because let’s be real, the critical mass of mushroom entrepreneurs that regularly attends the Mycopreneur Incubator is perpetually newsworthy; maybe that’s why collectively our attendees have already been featured in Forbes, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, and so many other mainstream and independent outlets.

If you’re in Denver for the Shroomski Halloween bash today, please snag a photo and send it to me.

Tomorrow’s Double Blind Magazine Featured Story

I penned the featured article for Double Blind Magazine that drops tomorrow as well 0 it’s titled “10 Scary Potential Outcomes of Psychedelic Mainstreaming…and How to Avoid Them” and you guessed it, a number of Mycopreneur Incubator attendees are quoted in the article. Upgrade your subscription below if you’re not already a Double Blind member to read the article when it drops tomorrow.

And since you’ve made it this far, news around the campfire is that there is a project taking shape in the United States that can 10x the available domestic supply of functional mushrooms produced in the country. So, as the source stated, if Walmart of Costco wanted 1 million pounds of functional mushroom XYZ, this project could ostensibly supply that. I don’t have any more info at the moment, but the source who put this on my radar is credible so we’ll see what the future brings 👀

I' spent today at the ruins of Pompeii nearby Naples, Italy and am headed to dinner in the next hour or so - I’ll be on the Mycopreneur Incubator call to let people into the room and chat a bit, but today is a great opportunity for any prospective attendees to take the reins and curate / drive the conversation.

We’ve got some very cool featured experts and subject areas lined up for the coming month of Incubators, and a newsletter in the making which will shine a light on a really unique corner of the mushroom world as told by a person who just finished their Master’s Degree in the domain…and this Mycopreneur hails from a country that most of us have extremely little familiarity with or knowledge of what’s happening there, especially in regards to mushroom research.

Lastly, Mycroboost is launching a video contest where we’re looking for our customers to send us short videos of different fun seasonal drinks made with our signature Mycroboost mushroom coffee. We’ll pick three of the participants to send a prize pack chalk full of Mycroboost functional mushroom products to. Hit me up if you want to review our coffee on your social channel and you want us to send you a bag to get this party kickstarted.

DM us a short video on Instagram or reach out to me here if you’d like to participate.

Stay tuned for that, and until then, I’ll see you at the Mycopreneur Incubator today.
