In a natural extension of Mario Bros universe game play, industry insiders report that the next installment in the Mario franchise will include an optional fully immersive, guided Amanita muscaria mushroom experience designed to seamlessly integrate multiple dimensions of player consciousness simultaneously.

Tentatively titled Mario Brothers 5D, the game promises to blur the line between player and platform so as to offer customers a truly dynamic and unique experience beyond standard game play.

“We’ve taken immersive game play to the next level,” said an executive familiar with the project. “The only logical step forward is ego dissolution.”

Players will begin the game in a 2D format as a callback to earlier installments in the franchise before encountering the iconic red-and-white Amaniya muscaria mushroom that triggers what developers are calling a “perspective expansion event.” From there, gameplay shifts dramatically.

“Suddenly, Bowser isn’t the enemy,” the executive explained. “Bowser is a projection. The real final boss is your aversion to non-duality.”

Developers have partnered with Amanita muscaria mushroom purveyors Amentara to ensure availability the highest quality mushroom caps and associated Amanita products as an addendum to the video game.

Early testers describe game levels as being perfectly designed for union between player and platform, as well as NPCs that speak exclusively in riddles.

Notably, the game includes a built-in “set and setting” calibration tool, allowing players to adjust lighting, intention, and soundtrack before entering higher levels of play. A disclaimer appears before each session: Approach with caution and respect, and do not skip levels in the game.

Critics have questioned whether the average gamer is ready for a title that replaces power-ups with shadow work, but developers remain confident. “Gamers have been grinding for years,” said the executive. “We’re just helping them realize there is no final level.”
