Hello friends,
Welcome to the Mycopreneur Newsletter — today we’ve got a round up of mushroom innovation news from around the world and an invite to today’s Mycopreneur Incubator with ‘Mushroom Woodworker’ Cullom Cahill.
I cam across Cullom’s awesome work via TikTok, where he is actively creating mycelium lampshades and ornaments and all kinds of other interested myco projects with his channel @mushroom_woodworker. You can see one of his videos creating a lampshade below.
The invite to today’s Mycopreneur Incubator is at the bottom of this newsletter.
Check out the latest updates to the Myco Map project, a citizen science research initiative enabling free ITS DNA barcoding of the mushroom specimens you’ve found. The project sequences 20,000+ specimens annually to document North American macrofungal biodiversity.

Here’s an interesting tool that came across my desk this week - it’s a data analytics and tracking platform for commercial mushroom farming to know what’s happening in every bag / block at every stage all of the time. Definitely geared towards commercial cultivation.
Among other things, the analytics dashboard and contamination tracking “helps you identify patterns, learn from past grows, and avoid making the same expensive mistakes twice.”

Dee Snider has been an influential rockstar for 50 years and has recently grappled with various health complications in addition to experiencing the deaths of many of his closest peers and friends, including the legendary Ozzy Osborne. A conversation between Dee’s son Cody Blue and Ozzy’s son Jack revealed that it was a longstanding plan to have Ozzy Osborne try psilocybin mushrooms in a bid to help address his Parkinson’s disease, but the opportunity never materialized. Ozzy’s son Jack states that “mushrooms saved my life. They healed me of addiction”.
This led to a sense of urgency for Cody to help his father Dee Snider experience mushrooms, stating afterwards about the trip that it was “very organic, moving.”
Very interestingly, he also shares that he heard ominous music during the ceremony, which he describes as sounding like "the best Black Sabbath album ever."

While the Kanna is very impressive and worth loading up on, I must share that I’ve been finding incredible sleep support and dream amplification recently through the nightly use of small doses ( 1-2 ml, or one to two droppers full) of Amanita muscaria 🍄 mushroom tincture.

This is an article fro July of 2025 that provides an update in a fascinating and important indigenous Māori led psilocybin mushroom clinical trial process underway in New Zealand. This study prioritizes Māori native knowledge and the use of the endemic psilocybe Whare Atua (the sacred name for Psilocybe weraroa) to treat meth addiction in the community. Māori traditional knowledge around mushrooms has dwindled alongside other ancestral healing practices since the Tohunga Suppression act in 1907 outlawed traditional healing practices — but like many other places in the world, this knowledge was passed down lineages clandestinely in remote pockets of the culture and has survived.
Māori recognize the native Psilocybe weraroa as a sacred ‘taonga’, or treasure, and maintain that the use of mushrooms for healing is a part of longstanding Māori tradition — while the full picture of traditional psilocybin mushroom use around the world is still largely unknown, the re-emergence of Māori mushroom knowledge joins recent reports out of South Africa and Lesotho to suggest that pre-colonial visionary mushroom use traditions span the globe.
This is an oddly comforting and uplifting video of a guy in Belarus foraging mushrooms in the snow.
