Mushroom News Around The World

+ Mycopreneur Incubator

What’s up mushroom people, welcome to the Mycopreneur Newsletter - This is a weekly round up of global mushroom news. Please note there is no Mycopreneur Incubator Today - see you all next week ( :

I’m here in Zihuatanejo, Mexico - a little slice of tropical paradise on the Pacific Ocean that famously served as the destination that Andy Dusfrene disappears to after escaping Shawshank Prison in the all-time cinema masterpiece Shawshank Redemption. I totally get the appeal and can confirm it’s a splendid place to disappear and melt into the tropical ambiance and relaxed pace of life.

Here are some of the top stories from the global mushroom news space and beyond this week:

🧠 Medical Breakthroughs

A groundbreaking study from UC San Francisco revealed that a single dose of psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, significantly improved mood, memory, and motor function in Parkinson's patients. Participants experienced weeks-long relief from tremors and depression without serious side effects, marking the first trial of its kind involving a degenerative brain disease.

In April, New Mexico's governor signed the Medical Psilocybin Act into law, establishing a therapeutic program for psilocybin use under licensed healthcare providers. This move positions New Mexico alongside Oregon and Colorado in pioneering state-regulated psychedelic therapy programs in the U.S.

šŸ‘‘ Fit For A Princess

In a recent Confessions of a Female Founder podcast episode, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle shared her experience using adaptogenic mushrooms to manage stress during her pregnancies. She emphasized the concept of "food as medicine" and addressed public skepticism toward holistic approaches, acknowledging that terms like "mushrooms" can carry misleading connotations.

While not often discussed in the west, Reishi mushrooms have a long tradition of use during pregnancy in Traditional Chinese Medicine and I can confirm that my own son is a ā€˜Reishi Baby’ -

In a gripping courtroom saga, Ian Wilkinson, the sole survivor of a fatal mushroom lunch in Leongatha, Australia, testified in the murder trial of Erin Patterson. Patterson is accused of serving a beef Wellington laced with deadly mushrooms, leading to the deaths of three guests. Wilkinson described the meal and its aftermath, highlighting the severity of the toxin involved

Did you catch last week’s Mycopreneur Podcast? This one just might open your mind to a world of possibilities for mycopreneurism that you hadn’t previously imagined - it certainly did for me.

And while we’re at it, I’ve officially come around to recognizing the extraordinary benefit of Amanita muscaria mushrooms thanks to finally finding a safe and expedient source for these iconic fungi šŸ„

In particular, they elicit deep sleep and profound dream states for me upon consumption of .5 to 2 grams of decarboxylated fruiting bodies - and if you have no idea what that means, fear not, just head over to the Minnesota Nice Ethnobotanicals website to learn ore about this enchanting mushroom and to source a safe and turnkey supply. This is certainly one of the biggest ā€˜loopholes’ that currently exists in the ā€˜entheogen’ space - truly magic mushrooms that are 100% legal to purchase for the time being. As always, do your own research and due diligence before jumping into anything new. I can say I’ve consumed these Amanita muscaria from ā€˜MN Nice’ over 20 times to great effect. They’ve got a bunch of other premium ethnobotanicals too - for example, I’ve also had multiple excellent experiences with their Blue Lotus extract and their Shilajit.

Thanks for checking out the Mycopreneur Newsletter and don’t be a stranger!

So much is happening these days, and I maintain my position that partnering with fungal intelligence is the best bet for a better future on the individual and collective scale.

Alrighty then, I’ve got a boat to catch for a day of remote beach hopping. Peace!
