Psychedelic Science 2025 Rewind
+ Mycopreneur Incubator Invite
Howdy Mycopreneurs,
This weekâs Mycopreneur Newsletter is brought to you by The Fungivore, mushroom nerds and myco expedition leaders. Ever wanted to join a group of wild mushroom experts to go forage in some of the most biodiverse and Funga rich ecosystems on the planet while indulging in foraged haute cuisine and connecting with the local culture?

The upcoming Fungivore trips to Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico in August and September will provide exactly that, with world-renowned resident mycologists like Dr. Gordon Walker (Fascinated By Fungi), Chef Chad Hyatt, and Mycopreneur contributor Ezequeil Cruz of Fungaria joining you on the ground to provide real time insights and unparalleled regional mushroom knowledge in addition to many other surprises. Iâll personally be present for at least a portion of the MycoChiapas trip September 24 - October 2 as well. Thereâs no one else doing a tour like this and itâs right smack in the middle of peak wild mushroom season in Southern Mexico. Only 5 spots left (3 for MycoChiapas, 2 for the MyColores Oaxaca trip August 12-20).

Check out the Fungivore site below to reserve your spot before they sell out and to register interest for the October 2026 trips.
I just got done with the Psychedelic Science 2025 conference in Denver, bar none the most important psychedelic gathering of the year. Itâs a massive event held every two years and produced by the globally renowned MAPS organization - short for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.
In short, the conference drew upwards of 5,000 people to the Colorado Convention Center and had numerous satellite events hosted by various organizations in itâs broader orbit. I got tapped to do an extraordinary amount of hosting events and schmoozing on stage throughout the last week, and tremendously enjoyed every single opportunity.
Highlights included:
Emceeing legendary chemist Alexander âSashaâ Shulginâs 100th birthday party - The guest list included Paul Stamets, Alex Grey, Rick Doblin, etc.

Shulginâs 100th Birthday party
The incredible Psychedelic Playhouse produced by District216 Social Club for which I hosted two stages simultaneously and which drew well over 500 + people across 3 floors. This was my first District216 event and the made a BIG impression on me and everyone in attendance - the level of detail, execution, the programming, everything was dialed in. Iâve been to the Soho House in Malibu many times and Iâll say that District216 is my new social club and blows Soho House out of the water. Shoutout to regular Mycopreneur Incubator attendees Cesar Marin of Cultivating Wisdom, Sharon Dopak the Mushroom Nurse, Daniel Shankin of Tam Integration, and more for coming through as well as mushrooms.buzz for sponsoring.

The other huge highlight, beyond doing a panel on Psychedelic Fatherhood which drew a capacity crowd during the conference itself, were the two PORTAL events I I performed standup comedy at. One was in a giant immersive dome with 360 degree visual projections with comedian Brent Pella immediately after a sold out East Forest concert in the dome, and the other was a sold out Meow Wolf takeover also produced by PORTAL. This was my second Meow Wolf Portal event in the last two months and both sold out and had outrageous lineups. Between the Dome and Meow Wolf, fellow performers included The Have A Good Trip team (Simpsonâs / David Letterman etc. writer Donick Cary and Eric Andre / Zoolander 2 etc. producer Mike Rosenstein), Grammy-nominated rapper Vic Mensa, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and many more.
Okay one more highlight, and mind you these are not all the highlights, but doing a standup set between Savej and Porangui at the Cervantes Masterpiece Theater for the Tandava Retreats event wasâŠ.well check out the pictures below.

To kick off this show, Mycopreneur collaborators and sponsors Minnesota Nice Ethnobotanicals hooked it up with a bunch of Amanita muscaria caps that I flung to friends and strangers alike in the audience like frisbees. I know that someone has footage of this, and if thatâs you, please share it with us.
In the meantime, check their site out and see why Amanita muscaria mushrooms are catching on in a big way after years of being hidden in plain sight across fairytales, franchises, and emojis.
And while all this was going on, I got the literal news that Mycopreneur was featured in a Los Angeles Times article by the prolific Mattha Busby about the ongoing âFruiting Body vs. Myceliumâ row in the functional mushroom supplement industry.

Read the full article here and weigh in with your response to it by replying to this newsletter or sharing & commenting on social media:
Also featured in the article was Mycroboost, the mushroom supplement line that has been sponsoring and collaborating with Mycopreneur for the last few years. Our Instagram account is back after a Zuck-induced hiatus but that didnât stop this powerhouse purveyor of fruiting bodies from getting coverage in the LA Times and also a full page on the back of the latest edition of Shroomski Magazine, for which I wrote the closing article titled âFrom The Roots to The Suitsâ

Mycopreneur Incubator TOMORROW
The Mycopreneur Incubator will resume as regularly scheduled tomorrow, Thursday, at 3 pm East Coast U.S. / 12 pm West Coast - itâs the same zoom link as always and the invite + link will also be included in tomorrowâs newsletter.
Ok one last highlight from Psychedelic Science 2025 was the Global Psychedelic Week pizza & psychedelics party that I co-hosted with the inimitable Milica Radovic Mandic of Bizdelics & PsilocybinSF. We sold out the 70 spots we had for the room and managed to curate a lineup of speakers from 6 continents - including the only therapist in East Asia who is legally licensed to provide psychedelic therapy.
Global Psychedelic Week has also added some of the most recognizable names in psychedelic science & culture globally to our already putstanding roster of presenters and speakers, as well as numerous new partner organizations spanning the globe. As someone who goes to a lot of events around the world, I can say Iâve personally been extraordinarily impressed at the way âGPWâ is taking shape and the momentum is just getting started.
This will be the event of the year and it wouldnât be the same without you:
Thanks for reading the Mycopreneur Newsletter, and weâll be back tomorrow with a piece on AI technology for Fungal Species Identification and with an invite to our regularly scheduled Mycopreneur Incubator.
Peace!
