I’ve just returned from the 6th iteration of Breaking Convention, Europe’s largest psychedelic research conference, held at the University of Exeter in Devon, England. I have a wrap article coming out about it in the next few days, so I’ll spare you the inside scoop here.
What I can tell you is that I gave a keynote on the main stage to an incredible audience, and had a chance to interview the legendary Amanda Feilding of Beckley Foundation among many other highlights.
“Returned” from Breaking Convention is a funny was to phrase it, actually - Since jumping on a train out of Exeter station on Sunday, April 23rd, I spent 24 hours in London consorting with a brigade of distinguished academics who are close personal friends, a night in Dubai - my old stomping grounds from my era living and working in Saudi Arabia circa 2012-2013 - a night in Kuala Lumpur, my 4th time to that mega metropolis - and finally to Bangkok, where I have a chance to post up in one place for a week.
Yesterday, my second collaboration with MAPS was released for the world. It’s a poem titled “Controlled Substances”, and it appears in their bulletin. The funny part about all this is that I wrote that poem in 5 minutes at the airport lounge in San Jose, California a few months ago. I’ve taken to operating from top of mind as often as possible, leaning into the random and sometimes chaotic nature of improvisation to get shit done.
The improv approach seems to be working; in the last month, Mycopreneur has been featured in Forbes and Rolling Stone as well as in a number of other psychedelic industry publications and news blurbs.
I’ve also received an invitation to speak at Psychedelic Science this summer, where I’ll be on a panel about the role of satire in the psychedelic space.
I’m still plugging away with the podcast, publishing one episode per week - usually on Fridays. I’ve decided to breathe some new life into the newsletter and make it a more regular feature, as well. I welcome feedback about how to improve it and what content areas to focus on - namely, I’m interested in finessing the design to look more like a professional newsletter with an aesthetic of ‘capital worthy’ panache. If you know the trade secrets behind a popping newsletter, please hit me up.
I also want to offer my media production and consulting services to interested parties; at the beginning of January, 2023, I was offering a ridiculous package of customized content and placements across all Mycopreneur channels for $500-$700 a month. Only two brands took me up on the offer, and have since had their products and services widely broadcast to tens of thousands of people during a time period when Mycopreneur has catapulted into a position of mainstream recognition and influence.
I’d like to open up the sponsorship, production, and consulting dialogue to more interested parties, though the prices and packages referenced above will have to be renegotiated at this time.
I’ll leave you with a few satirical articles that I’ve platformed on Mycopreneur.com
Thanks for reading The Post-Truth Post, please spread the word about this newsletter if you want to do me a solid - and as always, hit me with that feedback fam!
Peace and Love,
DW
